Murraguldrie Veterans Retreat is run by V.V.A.A. South West N.S.W. Sub-Branch.
Veterans
of all wars and conflicts will be most welcome as will current and ex serving members of the ADF, Police and other emergency
services.

Note; The Retreat gate is locked. To gain access to the Retreat, you will have to ring
one of the numbers on the "contacts page" in advance or ring the number on the gate on your arrival.
Any veteran or ADF member who is accompanied by friends are responsible
for them and they MUST leave the retreat when the host leaves.
The Retreat is in the Murraguldrie State Forest (55 km South East of Wagga Wagga ...55 km North west of Tumbarumba....
7 km off Hume Highway).
Over the last few years the land has been cleared and several structures erected.

We have erected 9m x 7m weather shed, which can now be used as a camp kitchen as we have tables,
chairs and a double sink with running tank water.There is also a wood burning heater in the shed for warmth in the winter
months.
We have three rain water tanks and a permanent toilet /shower block. There has now been a disabled
amenities cubical added. We have erected a hot water system,a wood or gas ring hot water donkey. There is
also a new hot water system whereas you will have to supply your own gas bottle.
The Retreat is now open to all Veterans, serving and ex serving ADF members and their families,Police
and other Emergency Service workers are also welcome. The Retreat offers good bush camping with basic facilities. Caravans,
camping trailers and tents are welcome.There is only 150 meters of all weather dirt road into the retreat off of the
Tumbarumba Rd.
Toilets and showers have Solar
lighting and is activated when the door is opened so please close the doors when you leave to save power.
There is
a RED breaker inside the Female toilets next to the cupboard that will need to be pressed to activate the Solar lighting.
We
have installed an external plugin on our container for you to connect your own generator to power all the above facilities
if you need it.
Mobile Phones and Laptops have good WI-FI coverage and there are two UHF Repeaters that can be
accessed. (Ch2 - Ch6)
All UHF & HDTV Channels are accessible and provide strong signals.
For those who drink, we try to encourage the use of cans as we have a can crusher on the shed and
a bin below for cans only.
Pets are welcome but must be restrained when there is a larger group at the retreat and all
waste must be picked up.
All other RUBBISH MUST be taken with you.
NO LIGHTING OF SOLID FUEL FIRES ON TOTAL FIRE FIRE BAN DAYS and ALL fires MUST be
in the fire rings.
The Retreat is in a very good location half way between Sydney & Melbourne. Access is off the
Hume Highway between Holbrook and Tarcutta onto the Tumbarumba Rd. The Retreat is then 6.5 km up the Tumbarumba Rd. Turn
right in at the Murraguldrie State Forest sign. If you are coming in from the Tumbarumba
side, the turnoff is 6.5 km from Little Billabong Rd. As you approach the
crest of a hill at the retreat you will see the the Telstra and fire towers directly in front of you. Turn left
at the next Road on the left.
